General
information letter from Mary Wladkowski:
Dear
Sangha and Dharma Friends,
We
are now two months away from the meditation retreat with Khentrul
Lodrö
Thayé at Meier Lake Conference Center. The dates are
confirmed as
March
17th through March 22nd. This will be a
residential
retreat with participants expected to stay for the entire
retreat.
Anyone with special needs or issues regarding this should
contact
Rinpoche through Paloma at lotzapaloma@gmail.com
The
accommodations at Meier Lake are cabins, each with four bedrooms,
each
bedroom with four beds. There is a shower house separate from the
cabins
with separate facilities for men and women.
There
are two bedrooms in the bottom level of the main building that
will
be used by Rinpoche and Paloma.
The
main building houses the conference room, which we will be using as
our
meditation room, as well as a full commercial kitchen (completely
stocked
with pots and pans, etc. as well as meal service
items
like plates and forks and knives) where we will be preparing our
meals.
As we get a little closer to March, we ask that anyone with
special
food needs discuss this with the local coordinator for your
city.
We will serve both vegetarian and meat dishes and if there are a
large
number of vegans, we will try to accommodate that, too. Meals
will
be planned to include fruits and veggies, starches, dairy
products
and meats. Breakfasts will be simple, hot or cold cereal,
fruits,
and possibly other baked goods. If you have special dietary
needs
due to health considerations you should be prepared to
meet
those needs on your own. We will also have snacks available and
you
are welcome to bring whatever you’d like to see on a snack
tray with
you.
We will have crackers and cheeses, fresh fruits
and
nuts, and some baked goods such as muffins and quick breads on
hand.
We hope to plan menus that require mostly prep work that can then
sit
and cook unattended so no one misses time with
the
lama.
The
current estimate for the retreat is about $250 for food and
lodging.
This does not include any honorarium for Rinpoche or Paloma,
nor
does it include any personal donations you may wish to
make.
Also, as is customary at any group retreat, we will all be
pitching
in on any work that is required, such as cooking and cleaning.
It
is important that we clean up thoroughly after the retreat is
done
or we will be charged extra.
That
is about all I can think of at the moment. More will be available
as
we get closer to the retreat. Please be sure this event is on your
calendar
and do not miss this opportunity to spend this quality
time
with the precious lama.
In
dharma,
Mary
W.
