THE ALASKA BUDDHIST CENTER--RIMAY TENZIN LING
INVITES YOU TO STUDY WITH A REMARKABLE TIBETAN LAMA

Tulku Yeshi Gyatso Rinpoche

Venerable. Tulku Yeshi Rinpoche is a highly revered scholar who received teachings from twenty-five great teachers, representing all five schools of Tibetan Buddhism.   He was recognized at an early age as the reincarnation of Dzogchen Gyaltsub Thodo Rinpoche by His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s main Nyingmapa teacher, Kyabje Trulship Rinpoche.  Today he is known as a master of Dzogchen, a profound and extraordinary method of realizing the true nature of the mind.

Tulku Yeshi has written eight books, seven of which have been published on the subject of Tibetan Buddhism and culture, including a “One Thousand Year History of the Sakya Tradition.”  He also writes novels, poetry for mind training, provides Tibetan astrology readings and  bestows empowerments.  Currently he teaches and engages in various Buddhist Dharma activities  at the Sakya Monastery in Seattle.  Currently he is also working on his own biography, Magic and Monk.

Rigdzin Thingkhye will accompany Tulku Yeshi as interpreter. Born in Tibet, he is a high Buddhist practitioner with many years experience as a translator.   Fairbanksans will remember Rigdzin from previous visits as translator since l997, when he first came with the Ganden Shartse monks who created the mandala at the University Museum.  In addition to translating Dharma, Rigdzin is increasingly known as a teacher in his own right in both Dharma practice and about the history and culture of Tibet.

Elsewhere, suggested donations for the weekend workshop may be a few hundred dollars and the lectures in two figures.  We ask that you donate whatever you may find possible to help defray expenses and support this and future lama visits.  Initiation into the practice of Ganapati, Remover of Obstacles
The Hindu deity, “Ganesh,” also called “Ganapati,” represents the power and intelligence of the elephant. After meeting the Buddha he took the vow to forever aid all beings. The practice came into the Sakya Buddhist tradition with the belief in Ganapati as an emanation of Avalokitishvara, a  universal Buddhist deity embodying ultimate loving compassion.  Ganapati is a remover of obstacles and strengthens positive influences.  This is a sacred spiritual ceremony but does not require those who attend to take commitments unless they choose to do so.

                        SPIRITUAL PRACTICE IN EVERYDAY LIFE
PROFOUND MEANS FOR LIVING MORE FULLY

This workshop will include an introduction to understanding the ancient and esoteric practices of Tantra and Dzog Chen Yeshi Tulku Rinpoche has the unusual background of receiving training from great masters in all of the lineages of Buddhism in Tibet, but has focussed especially on the Sakya and Nyingma traditions.  Once considered a highly esoteric practice, Dzog Chen has been taught in the west in the last few years, and Yeshi Tulku Rinpoche, fully qualified in this discipline, wishes to help lay a solid groundwork in this study for students who may receive Dzog Chen teachings elsewhere as well as to aid students in  understanding mind training and meditation.

MONDAY, SEPT. 29, 6:30 P.M. at UNITARIAN CHURCH, 4441 Pike's Landing Road, across from the Princess Hotel.
